ETA Supports Workshop for CBOs in Kibera Slum
On 6 – 7 December 2012, ETA assisted City Council of Nairobi (CCN) and Japan International Cooperation Agency Expert Team (JET) prepare and facilitate a workshop for members of a Community-Based Organization (CBO) in Kibera Slum on 6 December 2012. On the following day, 7 December 2012, ETA co-facilitated a similar workshop in Mukuru Slum. These workshops were for the “Pilot Project of Waste Collection and Transportation in Slum Areas in Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs)”, and is a part of a bilateral government project between the Government of Kenya and the Government of Japan.

ETA Represents the Private Sector at a UNESCO Meeting for Great Apes Survival
On 6 – 8 November 2012, ETA was invited by the Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP) secretariat in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), to attend the 2nd GRASP Council Meeting at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris, France.

ETA Attends a Reception for a Great Apes Survival Exhibition
On 2 October 2012, ETA was invited to the reception of an exhibition of the Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP) at Alliance Française, Nairobi, Kenya. GRASP is an initiative led by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

ETA Completes an Energy and Waste Solutions Needs Assessment
On 31 August 2012, ETA completed a needs assessment for energy and waste solutions in informal settlements (slums) in Nairobi. The field survey took six months and covered ten slum areas, e.g. areas within Kibera and Mathare Slums. More than 200 inhabitants were interviewed. Based on the field survey results, ETA will develop and discuss project concepts with stakeholders (e.g. UN agencies, international cooperation agencies, solar lantern suppliers, and trading firms) to work towards improving lives in Nairobi slums.

ETA Gives a Presentation about Climate Change
On 28 – 29 June 2012, ETA presented at the workshop, “Adopting International Standards in the Realization of MDG (Millennium Development Goal)s & Vision 2030,” held at Kenya School of Monetary Studies.
