Fourth East Africa Water Summit
On 21-22 November 2019: ETA participated at the fourth East Africa Water Summit in Nairobi County. This summit is an annual multi-stakeholder water community engagement platform in East Africa. The objective of the summit was to bring key stakeholders in the water sector together to share information related to innovative technology, financing and policy. More than 100 people from private and public sectors, non-governmental organizations and universities visited this summit from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan.

ETA’s PET Bottle Recycling Project in Kenya on Newspaper
On 23 September 2019: An article of a sector-specific newspaper of Japan, “Recycling Economy Times” illustrated PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle recycling project of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Kenya. ETA’s participation in the project and some regulatory and market investigation results of ETA were emphasized in this article. – Article and images (Available in Japanese only).

FIDIC Red Book Seminar in Nairobi
On 18 September 2019: Overseas Construction Association of Japan Inc. (OCAJI) organized a full-day comprehensive seminar in Nairobi, Kenya on FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) Red Book 1999. It was facilitated by Konoike Construction Co., Ltd. with a lecturer, a senior advocate from a prominent multi-national legal firm, Nishimura & Asahi. It also covered various aspects of FIDIC Red Book 2017 and other FIDIC books. This seminar with interactive training sessions was very useful for ETA’s staff as ETA has been recently contracted for numbers of international development projects, which were based on FIDIC rules.

ETA’s PET Bottle Recycling Project on Newspaper
On 6 May 2019: ETA’s director joined a kick-off meeting of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle recycling project of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Kenya, which was held in Tokyo on 17 April 2019 and hosted by Shirai Eco Center Ltd. ETA’s role in this meeting was to illustrate the regulatory and market trends of PET bottle recycling in Kenya and East Africa; international trends of European countries, China, South Africa and East Africa Community influencing Kenyan policy and market development in this sector; and key persons and institutions in the Kenyan public and private sectors for the project. An article of this meeting was on the top page of a newspaper, The Recycling Economy Times published on 6 May 2019 by Nippo Co. Ltd.

Guide to Green Economy – Kenya
On 22 February 2019: ETA attended the “Launch of the First Guide to Green Economy – Kenya” organized by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (AHK) in Kenya. This event was funded by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kenya in a framework called “German Embassy Green Economy Cycle” as German initiative for renewable energy promotion in Kenya. ETA discussed project opportunities of small hydro power plants with environmental and energy experts, financial institutions and Kenyan private and public sector participants.

Bi-monthly Meetings of WASPA in Meru and Narok
On 25 January and 1 March 2019: ETA’s director and staff participated at bi-monthly meetings of Kenyan Water Services Providers Association (WASPA) in Meru and Narok County as chief and deputy representatives in Kenya for Wellthy Corporation,. ETA investigated project opportunities with water service providers and promoted its client’s water treatment technology to stakeholders at this event.
