ETA Reaches Out to Githogoro Slum about Energy and Waste Solutions
ETA visited Githogoro Slum in December 2011 to brainstorm a needs assessment on energy and waste solutions for inhabitants of informal settlements (slums).

ETA Participates as a Panelist in an International Green Economy Conference
ETA was invited to participate in a panel discussion at an international conference on “Environmental Goods and Services in the Green Economy ~ Opportunities for Africa from trade in goods and services supporting the transition to a low carbon future” held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 19 October 2011.

This event was organized by ICTSD (International Center for Trade and Sustainable Development) and UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa) as part of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Africa Region.

ETA contributed to this event as a panelist, to work with African governmental officials and UN representatives to find a way forward for the Environmental Goods and Services (EGS) negotiations at the World Trade Organization (WTO) and identify the negotiations’ relevance to African countries, with an emphasis on linkages to trade and climate change. ETA Published Online on ECO LEAGUE
In November 2011, ETA’s activities were published as a special volume (about 30 pages) on ECO LEAGUE, a Japanese online magazine.

ETA Presents at the National Climate Change EXPO 2011
The Kenyan Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources invited ETA to exhibit at the National Climate Change EXPO 2011, which was held at Kenyan International Conference Center, Nairobi, Kenya, from 13 to 15 October 2011. ETA provided visitors information about climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives and technologies, and waste-related Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects. ETA also sold Japanese solar-lanterns as products of Base/Bottom of Pyramid (BOP) business in cooperation with African Children Education Fund (ACEF). Learn more>>
